The Compare of Effects of a Day-to-Day Living Program for Patients with Dementia in the Community-Pilot Study

Abstract
The purpose of this study was to identify the changes in activity daily living performance skills and quality of life of the dementia patients after executing Day-to-Day Living(D2DL) program and so to suggest basic data for a therapeutic program for dementia patients. The D2DL program was applied one time a week for 8 weeks to 5 dementia patients who visited senior center in Asan city between 2010.10 to 2011.03. Moreover a one group pre-post-follow up test design was also applied in order to verify the effects of the D2DL program on the subjects`s ability to activity daily living performance skills and quality of life. After executing the program, changes in activity daily living performance skills and quality of life were measured before, after, and follow-up the D2DL program. Result of this program is showed a statistically significant difference the between programs before and after, and follow-up, particularly motor skills for 2nd , 3rd patients and process skill for 3rd , 4th patients. Accordingly D2DL program has an meaningful for progressing of the activity daily living performance skills and their quality of life of dementia patients living in a community. The present author hope that, in the future, more D2DL program will be developed to improve the functions of dementia patients living in a community.
